Positron

Positrons are electrically positively charged elementary antiparticles with spin ½.

 


Explanation

A positron is the antiparticle of the electron. It is a lepton of the first generation. Electrons and positrons are fermions.

In an atom, positrons move. The nucleus of an atom consists of protons and neutrons.

 


Additional information

The positron was discovered in 1932 by the American astrophysicist Carl Anderson.
