Coefficient
A coefficient gives a constant value in a product with a variable. Often it is a factor or a parameter. In its simplest form you get
a · xn
Example 1
In the polynomial
with the variable x, are a0, a1, a2, ... , an the coefficients of the succeeding terms.
Example 2
In the binomium
with the variables a and b are the coefficients combinations. They are called binomial coefficients.
Example 3
In the constant multiple rule
is u a function of the variable x, and is the coefficient c a constant.
