Cronbach's alpha α is a measure of the internal consistency of a scale.

 


Explanation

Cronbach's alpha is used mainly in psychometrics for test design and evaluation. Alpha can assume values between negative infinity and 1 (only positive values make sense).

 


History

The name alpha was proposed by the American mathematician Lee Cronbach in 1951.
