Entropy

The thermodynamic entropy describes the state of an isolated system in equilibrium.

 


Explanation

Different gases will mix still further over time. Also in your own room disorder will just increase, and it never happens that all of a sudden everything is neatly in place.

 


History

According to the Israeli chemist Arieh Ben-Naim (1934), entropy can be better described as missing information.
