Pure imaginary number

A pure imaginary number is written as

bi

where i is the imaginary unit.

Explanation

A complex number has the form

z = a + bi,   ab ∊ ℝ

where a is the real part and bi is the imaginary part. If a = 0, the complex number 0 + bi = bi gets the name pure imaginary number.
