Cosmic microwave background

The cosmic microwave background is the heat radiation emitted shortly after the Big Bang.

Explanation

Cosmic background radiation is the result of photons that were released 13 billion years ago when the universe became transparent and the first hydrogen atoms were formed.

History

The astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson discovered this radiation by accident in 1965.
