Lepton

Leptons are elementary particles with spin ½. One of the most prominent properties is their electric charge.

Explanation

A lepton does not undergo strong interactions.

Leptons are the elementary building blocks of matter, such as e.g. of protons and neutrons in the atomic nucleus.

History

The name "lepton" (Greek: thin) was coined in 1953 by Dutch physicist Bram Pais.
