Muon

A muon is an unstable electrically negatively charged elementary particle with spin ½.

 


Explanation

The muon is a lepton of the second generation and is about 207 times as heavy as an electron. The corresponding antiparticle is the antimuon. Muons and antimuons are fermions.

History

The Italien physicist Gian Carlo Wick (1909 - 1992) made the first measurement of the lifetime of the muon.
