Non sequitur

Non sequitur is Latin for "it does not follow."

Explanation

An argument is called non sequitur if the conclusion does not follow from the premises, and is therefore a false consequence. This is a special case of a fallacy. It does not matter whether the conclusion is correct or not.

Example 1

Negative numbers do not exist, therefore you do not need to learn to calculate with them. This is faulty reasoning because positive numbers do not exist either.
