Positron

A positron is an electrically positively charged elementary antiparticle with spin ½.

 


Explanation

A positron is the antiparticle of the electron. It is a lepton of the first generation. Electrons and positrons are fermions.

In an atom, positrons move. The nucleus of an atom consists of protons and neutrons.

 


History

The positron was discovered in 1932 by the American astrophysicist Carl Anderson.
