Regularization

In theoretical physics, regularization is a method of modifying observables which have singularities in order to make them finite.

Explanation

Regularization controls infinities by assuming the existence of new unknown physics at new scales. In certain power series or integrals a "cutoff" can be used to suppress infinities.
