Strangeness
Strangeness S is a quantum number that concerns the strange quark.
Explanation
The strangeness of a particle is defined as
S = −(ns − ns̅)
where ns is the number of strange-quarks and ns̅ is the number of strange-antiquarks.
HistoryThe American physicist Murray Gell-Mann (1929 - 2019) has introduced strangeness. |
